How Album Rankings Are Basically Shit ShowS !!

Apple music’s list of top 100 albums have a lot of people talking about it and how it ranked certain records way too low while albums that are not even as good as the 98th album are ranked way too high on the list. But for me the whole idea of ranking music or any other form of media is just dumb because there will never be a list that ranks anything justifiably. And In this blog I’m explaining why is that so.

All of us perceive music, movies and every other form of media differently and our experiences are individual and unique to our own. The same goes for music albums. Of course, there are albums which are more dear to you than others like remember the album that came out back then which helped you get over your last break up, (Just kidding you are still not over that person), or the album that triggers certain memories or your go to album which you listen daily and the album that “you think is objectively the greatest album of all time“. Now the definition for each of those albums is different for each individual and of course you are going to rank them higher than the albums that you haven’t really heard. Its almost universal for everything a lot of things that you like or enjoy will be trash or simply unamusing to a lot of other people.

Music companies like Apple Music, Spotify and Rolling stone magazine are no better than previously mentioned individuals. But they like to pretend and imprint their opinions by using terms such as “According to data collected by 100s of critics…..blah, blah, blah or “More than 1 million of our music experts….blah, blah”. But all these fancy claims still doesn’t change the fact that these are still subjective opinions you are just increasing the quantity of subjective opinions and compiling them altogether to present a list and make it seem like a complete objective truth when in fact it is only a barrage of subjective views made to seem like a carefully curated scientific data. But in reality its just as trash as the data presented by last company.

Us humans and our obsession with ranking and sorting everything. Why do we have to rank movies and music ? Its a legit question from me. Why do we always have to do this and not just enjoy what we like, let that be a Geek rock band or Beethoven its ultimately your choice and don’t let these lists and critics stop you from enjoying the music or media that you love. The world will always have countering opinions no matter what you do and don’t let those negative opinions being imprinted onto you, enjoy what you like to listen, watch or any other activity that gives you the satisfaction you want because at the end of the day that is all what matters.

Its not like I care about these types of lists or critics, but heyy!! Blonde made it to the top 10 so its alright by me. But they didn’t even include 2014 Forest Hill Drive or To Pimp A Butterfly, can you believe it !!!!!
